The difference between friend and enemy is only in intent. Whether they help or hurt you is irrelevant. The question is in honesty. Do they direct or misdirect? Do they work for you or for themselves?
The advice of an enemy is not always wrong. The advice of a friend is not always true.
I am old enough to see that the idea holds true: not everyone we love are friends and not everyone we fear are enemies.
But why can’t it be enough just being a good person? Why are some people so twisted in their hearts that whether or not you are a good or bad person is irrelevant? Whether or not your intent is pure? No matter how good you are, or how hard you try, someone vicious will attempt to poison your veins because all they can feel is the hatred. Or envy.
