1.
I’ve been trying to record my dreams lately and this morning I picked up my laptop and opened the notepad document that I left open and saw only this:

isnt there more to life than this

I’m not sure what I was dreaming about (a turkey comes to mind?!). And I only vaguely remember reaching over to grab the computer. Odd.

2.
So when the furry body hopped up on the bed and plopped down next to my face I just sort of automatically started petting, still half asleep, like you do when you own cats.

Usually it’s Pumpkin or Loki, never Morn. Since he’s gotten older he likes a lot more room and he’d prefer my computer chair or “the boat”.

So a few hours later when I heard the cute wheeze I opened my eyes and saw that indeed it was Morn who had been with me the whole time with his nose against my nose. And honest to blog, in my stupor, my thought was: “I must be dying.”

And then I calmly fell back asleep.
Strangest thing.

I’d like to thank every single person who commented or emailed me about the last post. All your thoughts and advice have really helped me in how I’ll approach the situation. I’ll be sure to let you guys know how it goes (next week sometime?) if it goes at all.

Also, I didn’t know I had so many male readers?! You guys sure shocked me. =)

I’m pretty sure Frost must be sick. For weeks he was fine with Morn and the kittens and everyone was getting along just fine, but recently he’s been really harassing Morn. He’ll chase him all the way up stairs and into my room and Morn just spends most of his time hiding under the bed. It’s awful. And at first I thought maybe Morn and he had gotten in a fight or something, but Frost is now doing it to the kittens. He hisses when they pass and scratches at them if they get anywhere near him. And he wasn’t like this before. Cole tells me he’s never been like this ever, so he might be sick. We’re going to try everything, from adding an extra water bowl to more litter boxes, to whatever it takes. So it’s been a rough couple of days trying to deal with it. The good news is we have the kittens out of the tree and Morn is notably losing some poundage. =)

Frost attacked Morn up in the bedroom because Morn and the kittens were having a party on the bed and he was all jealous like and goes, “I’m the BOSS!”
And Morn screamed, “Oh! My! God! I’m a pacifist!”
And Jei grabbed Frost and was all like, “I’m the boss.”
And Frost was all like, “No I am.”
And Jei’s like, “NO ME.”
And then Morn was like, “He’s the boss! Just tell him he’s the boss!”
And Frost was like, “NO!”
And the whole while the kittens are just watching like, “WTF, mate?”
And so Jei and Frost have a stare down for a few minutes and I’m contemplating playing the appropriate music over the stereo and Jei eventually wins and when he lets Frost go we are all still staring.
Then Morn says, “CHARGE!!!” and the kittens and Morn chase Frost into the basement.

It’s been a very active morning.

I painted these charms yesterday while standing by the care of Morn and I’m pretty happy with them. We have a pumpkin pie charm and a cinnamon bun charm. I sprinkled crushed cinnamon into the paint I was using when I applied it; it left tiny bumps in some places, but now it actually smells like food. =)

I’m pretty okay with how these turned out and I have a slice of pizza, an ice cream cone, a piece of cake, and a donut to be painted as well. YUM. (It’s been brought up to me that I should sell some. Perhaps I will.)

Morn’s still urinating blood, but we’ve been giving him medication and he isn’t supposed to show signs of getting better for at least a few days. As long as he continues to pee, even if it’s just a little bit, we’re doing all right.

I’m posting Yelp! review because it will be easier than re-explaning the situation in a different way.

Unless you have no regard for your pets well being and price is the only factor driving you in your decision of a veterinarian, I’d advise against choosing this one. I will admit the first experience I had here was wonderful. Dr. Reabe was kind.

However, the second vists, which was yesterday, I brought both my cat and my new kitten and received a discount for bringing both of them in. $5 off my total price. Over the phone they told me it would be a $90 visit and when I went to check out the total was $170. Such a leap is unacceptable to me. They should have informed me of the price variations while it was happening. If they had been a bit more organized, maybe they would have.

The first thing I said when I entered the examination room is, “I’m a little worried about Morn. When we’re all done with the normal shots and checkup I was wondering if you could check out his left paw. He’s been chewing at it strangely lately. And he’s also been going down to the litter box several times a day and squatting, but only manages to squeeze out a few drops…”

“Oh, well she’s looking great. We’ll have her checked out in no time.”

I brushed off the error as an account of actively listening. So she messed up and called my male cat a female after I’d just spent three minutes discussing *his* issues. But it wasn’t a one time thing. I continued talking to her and the other nurse, who were cuddling Pumpkin, the kitten, and in the discussion of both MALE cats she continued to refer to them both as females.

I know now she didn’t hear a word I said. I left the vet yesterday very upset, but when my cat urinated blood at 2am, I was furious.

I’m fairly certain, thanks to the internet and not to this veterinarian, that he has a urinary tract infection.

I just got off the phone with the nurse and she said that I “probably caught it in time” and I just need to pick up some antibiotics. I’m thinking, what if I didn’t catch it in time? You’re not going to look at him to make sure it hasn’t gotten worse?

“No, he’ll probably just have you come pick up some antibiotics.”

Wrong answer, East Bay Animal Hospital. Wrong answer.
