“Oh, only you can play with toys and make it beautiful.”

Best compliment ever. Thanks Jackie.

So I called Canon today and discovered it would be $60 to ship my camera to them so they can inspect it and tell me if it’s covered or not by the warranty. Fabulous. Then if they determine it was bumped, dropped, or improperly shipped, the warranty is void and they either fix it and I pay for it or they just ship it back to me. In messing around with the camera, I had pretty much determined it was just the lens that was acting up, and so to confirm my suspicions I planned on making a trip to our local Ritz Camera to shop for new lenses. If I popped a new one on and it worked fine, well then my starter lens was broken and I didn’t need to panic so much.

Well, I was right. I felt SO relieved when I could safely say it was just my lens acting up, and so then I just spent my time testing out new lenses. Not only did I find the perfect telephoto lens, but when I told the guy what had happened and why I was testing a few out with my actual camera body instead of the store’s, he just popped the lens off, went into the back, and when he came back out it worked. For free.

Oh, and he also called me, “Miss”.
(More specifically he said, “Here you are, miss.” Brownie points for you, Tim.)
The whole event was really just “darling”.

Also, because I’m still six years old, I got a bunch of toy dinosaurs for merely a few dollars. I have yet to take pictures of this new army, but rest assured I will.

But I did snag some $9 patchwork shoes

And a $10 patchwork purse

So you’re not supposed to get attached to inanimate objects other than your stuffed animals, right? Well I did. I got attached to my camera. And I sold it, and while I was selling it to someone who I knew would take good care of it, it still felt weird. Maybe it’s because I named it? Or maybe it’s because it was the first time I’d puchased myself anything that was over fifty dollars. This was the first thing I’d spoiled myself on. It feels weird.

Anyway, I say all of this because today I saw some pictures taken by the lovely girl I sold my camera to.

It just feels surreal. There’s no other way to put it, I guess. And my first shots with my Powershot were definitely NOT that good. =)

Anyway, I was pretty sick last night and today so I’m going to take it easy. But this is what’s currently on my mind so I thought I’d share. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
