I love Coraline!!! I love Stardust by Gaiman as well. I just read the comments and saw some people recommend I Capture the Castle. I recommend it too! I loved that book. I am obsessed with the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer so I definitely recommend that. I have a ton of books that I love, but most of them are probably “young adult”. I am always in the kids section!

I really enjoyed ‘The Shipping News’ which I read recently.
It’s a bit.. different.. but the style that EA Proulx writes in is fantastic! (She also wrote the short story ‘Brokeback Mountain’ which is a fantastic read aswell)

Bronwyn- I LOVED YOUR VLOG. I’m adding Water for Elephants to my list. And I didn’t know you were allergic to rats?

Laura, Abby, Elizabeth, Bronwyn, thank you thank you! I’m writing everything down so I can take a look at the library. Defenitely looking at “I Capture the Castle”, “Nine Stories” and “Secret History”. (And by that I mean I’ve added all of them to my list but these are at the top.)

Emma, it’s sooooo good. I may do a Vlog or post a recipe on how to make Yakisoba because it’s SO easy and pretty much every market has an asian section where you can get the proper ingrediants!

They have Thai green curry (gaeng kiow wahn) there too, but it’s $22. I could make it for $6 at home, and I wouldn’t have to leave the comfort of my own kitchen. I was kind of disappointed when I saw their menu. But oh well, it just means we’ll keep our house smelling of wonderful Asian delights.

^ I remember I Capture the Castle. :D I remember being upset it was made into a movie but that tends to be a common reaction of mine when it comes to loved books. ;)

JSF is pretty good; you’ll dig him, I bet. Apologies if you’ve read these, but Donna Tartt’s “The Secret History”, and Dodie Smith’s “I Capture the Castle” are goodgoodgood. I just read the former, and the latter has been a favorite for at least half a decade.

anything by Vonnegut. Cat’s Cradle is my favorite! Hardcore Zen, and Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger are both really quick reads not to mention amazing. hope that helps…

omg. yakisoba. i was craving that so hard the other day. and hotpot. it must be something about winter.

i’m not sure what type of books you like, but my recs are: milking the moon (awesome biography/autobiography of a guy named eugene), the blind assassin (noir-ish with outrageous sci fi elements), and if i told you once (a fairytale-ish multigenerational story tied together by the experiences of a young woman who emigrated from russia).

I loved Coraline! I felt so special getting a copy before it was sent out to stores. ;D It’s not something I’d read to my kids though, lol. The Alchemist was great too, I’d read it in between lectures as that’s all the time I had. I’d love to try Water for Elephants as it’s sitting on my nightstand. Just gotta make the time. ;)

I need a new vlog topic, hahaha, mine was a failure as you likely saw!
