When the S5 IS first came out, I checked cnet and dcresource daily for reviews. Well, once the reviews were posted I decided to stick with what I already had (a Canon A640).

From what I read, redeye seems to be a problem (but it can be removed with the redeye correction feature), as well as visible noise at low ISOs (cramming more pixels on the same sensor used on the S3 results in more noise), and lens aberrations and vignetting.

You may want to look into the Canon A650 IS. It's has the same swivel-and-twist LCD, 12.1-megapixels with 6x zoom, image stabilization, full manual controls, you can record movies (up to 1 hour), face detection, redeye correction, 21 shooting modes. Or The Canon PowerShot G9. http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_g9-review/

Yeah, I know. And really, I have a 10.1 MP Digital Rebel, so I don't know why I feel the need to get the newer model of the Powershot. *le sigh* It's ridiculous.

But I can't help myself, so if someone wants the camera, I'll sell it and get the newer model. But if not I'll keep it. =)

I understand the shiny part, haha. But MP aren't actually all that important. I don't know how many yours has but I really don't think more than 4 is necessary. There's some other critical feature that's more "key" but of course I've forgotten it. MP's just allow you to blow up your photo that much more if you get a print of it, really. At least that's what I've been led to believe.
