I never understood, “This will hurt me more than it will hurt you.”
Does everything in life become reduced to stupid competition? Tit for tat? Two people are in pain together, and niether pain is greater than the other because you’re both responsible for hurting each other.
I always liked, “I’m sorry this hurts you. It hurts me too.”
Or even, “I’m sorry you hurt. I hurt too.”

I’m sorry, it had you marked as spam for some reason? Sorry about that. All fixed now!

Ian spoke on January 28th, 2008 1:53 am with the words:

WELL FINE. I didn’t want to comment ANYWAY. Sorry for the excessive spam. =(

Sara spoke on January 28th, 2008 1:55 am with the words:

Haha, how ironic. It had you marked as spam because you were SPAMMING ME. I’m kidding. I like comments. I deleted, oh, ten of them but left the rest.

The layout is adorable!
OMG!
I LOVE IT!

And your entry is right on the nose. And applies more than even you may realize. Thank-you for being so amazing.

Awww skating burned bread!

That picture of you is amazing. I love the pose too. And the action, whichever it was!

Such true words. I think it’s a little self centered too to assume you’re hurting more than the other person.

Love the layout.
Don’t have much to say really. Nowadays I just distance myself from other people just because I don’t want to get hurt. It’s not that I’m afraid or anything, but I don’t have the time/patience for that kind of stuff. Seems kinda cold, but I’m fine this way.

Sara spoke on January 28th, 2008 3:14 pm with the words:

Diana, I relate to what you say in so many ways, I’m unsure of what to say or even how to say it.

PS. You’re really pretty in that photo. :)

Sara spoke on January 28th, 2008 3:35 pm with the words:

Diana, I think I know what it is that I want to say to your comment. But I might make a video log about it. I want to say that I am similar.

Agreed! What is with the popular desire to extend sympathy to someone only to immediately retract it by claiming that ultimate it is you who hurt more? It’s kind of like someone apologizing and then getting angry if you don’t immediately say “It’s okay.” (Do you offer an apology for that person? Or for your own relief of guilt?)

I like your approach, Miss Page.

And thanks for the note on GoodReads! I’ve been crazy busy and feel a bit detached from my own life….

You’re right. There’s no such thing as competition in hurting.
But sometimes competition makes us feel less bad :P

Looking forward to seeing your video log, then. :)
And I’m a dumb ass Sara. What do you use to edit your videos? I can’t put the subtitles, argh. Maybe tomorrow afternoon I can find a way to do it, if I get home early!
