It's extremely damaging to the victim, they become easily paranoid, second guesses to decisions become common, and nightmares can become very frequent as well. I've found it's harder with the internet, because there is no real way of handling the situation. There is nothing you can to get a PPO, or get them to stop stealing your photos, buying the same clothes, copying your hair or your words. I wish you the best of luck. You have every right to comment where you want and to who you want, there's always a 1% of people who will make things hard for the rest of us, but a very many people appreciate you and would do anything to be part of the 99% percent which outweighs the problems caused to you by the 1%.
