I watched “Roman Holiday” last night, starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Basically the premise is there is a Princess who decides to tour Rome on her own, and a reporter pretends that he doesn’t know who she is to get the story of the Princess. We’ve all heard this plot before because they’ve remade this movie (or it’s general idea) several times. “The Prince and Me”. “The Presidents Daughter”. None of them hold a candle to this movie. I loved it. I will now try watching the original “Sabrina”. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m trying to broaden my horizons with the movies. I loved, “A Lion in Winter”, but that was the only older movie I had seen before this one, and perhaps Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

I like many of the old noir films. The Bogey and Bacall pics are often good (but Casablanca is the best of them). I’m a fan of “The Big Sleep.” William Faulkner co-wrote that Bogey - Bacall screenplay.

Roman Polanski’s first film, “Knife in the Water,” is pretty good.

And I like film films, such as “La Dolce Vita,” “8 1/2,” “The 400 Blows,” and even “La’Venturra” (though this last one is really slow–it’s beautifully shot, though, and is a nice contrast to La Dolce Vita’s excessive liveliness even though both are very similar stories.

Thank you so much! I will definitely have to check these out- I do remember watching Twelve Angry Men in high school and being the only one in the class who enjoyed it. ; )
Thanks again you two, I’ll put these classics on my list.

I wish class was still admired in Hollywood the way it was several years ago. Audrey Hepburn is so beautiful in both mind and body… and her poise is absolutely admirable.

I loved her outfits, too!

Aw that’s a lovely movie. :) I unfortunately don’t have any recommendations though as I’m not a big movie watcher. My favourites tend to be for reasons other than the quality of the movie.

Wow, I’m so glad I bought Sabrina then! I will go pop that in tonight! Thank you so much everyone!
And yes, I completely agree about class in Hollywood. I’m so sorry to see it die.

What CK wrote is definitely true… watch the old Bogart classics. Casablanca is my favorite movie ever.
You should also be sure to watch The Barefoot Contessa. It’s amazing.

Sabrina.. I love Sabrina. And Roman Holiday. I love every Audrey movie, she is brilliant.

You should watch Some Like It Hot and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes as well. I could go on forever.
