I like this one. I think it would be cool to have vlogs where you show what you are doing or something you are doing that way it takes your mind off being in front of the camera. It’s just like public speaking… if you are looking around you feel better than staring right at the person/people. I think this is 10x’s personal then just writing. Like if you wrote all that you just said.. it would come across totally different. With you speaking to us, it makes it personal because you are speaking right to us. It’s up to you how persoanl to make it.. I hope this helps : ) and I didn’t notice as many um’s this time ;)

Sara spoke on November 30th, 2007 1:42 am with the words:

Yeah, i think I get that feeling too. By just vlogging what I would normally be writing, it already takes it up a notch in the personal level.

Trust YouTube to pick the BEST part of the video to put as the video’s icon. Srsly.

I know, you should see the other ones to choose from. One of them I have my hand rubbing my nose. I did that for maybe two seconds out of the whole video and it chooses those. Go YouTube.

i really liked this. i wouldn’t mind if my friendslist had lots of your videos.

i don’t want to be shy or afraid anymore either, but…i don’t know how.

Were you always shy and afraid? Or were you once outgoing like me? I just don’t understand when I became that person and I don’t know how to quite get back to her.

A. There is no such word as ‘acrossed’. -_o.

B. You know, that’s how I wanted eros-archer to be; no reservations. But now because I do know how many people (ha) read it, I DO withhold things because I’m concerned with offending people or…making unnecessary conflict. (especially about Kyle). And I mean, I started it before dx crashed, because I wanted something of mine to not be known by everyone, but then it was inevitable.

C. What’d you use for the bg music? It reminds of Beauty and the Beast. You know, that part in the beginning, right before the narrator starts.

D. Pumpkin’s eyes totally went up at the end to look at you, and it was teh cyuuuute

E. I almost feel like when you moved into your first apartment was when you started the shyness phase. When you started being more…cooped up all the time? I dunno.

Sara spoke on November 30th, 2007 3:28 am with the words:

A. I noticed that when I was editing it. I’d try to attempt to fix it by saying I was mixing words, but I think I’m just an idiot.

B. That’s how I wanted this to be. It’s like, with every new journal you feel like you might actually have a chance at speaking your mind. But, I don’t know if I want to be afraid of that anymore, you know? I think I just want to say what I have to say and get it over with.

C. Oh, God. Kat says the SAME thing, every time she hears it. It’s Rachel Portman’s music for the film “Chocolat” with Johnny Depp. Uh. Yeah. Perfect hair.

D. I can’t believe he lets me hold him like that.

E. Yeah, screw that. I don’t want to be that person anymore. I don’t want to be shy. Because IT SUCKS.

PS: In regards to C. when you had long hair that’s the Johnny you always reminded me of.

I don’t mind at all. I always like what you have to say, and I can relate to a lot of the things you talk about in your vlogs. I’d like to do one someday, but I act awkward when being filmed. My friend played a video she made of my birthday party at the last get-together we had. And I got a little embarrassed by how I acted on camera. I just didn’t seem like myself. I asked my best friend Zaheen a series of questions after watching the video. “Do I really act like that? Do I really touch my hair and face that much? Oh man, why am I so awkward. Wait, am I really that awkward?”

I hope she was telling the truth when she said “no”.

i love this video, seriously. i was watching it and going “awwwww” all the way. (the background music helps) i love your vlogs! and you should keep them as normal journal entries, to appear on our friends page, i don’t mind at all, it’s easier and i watch them all anyway. and i understand why you’re making the journal friends only. and i like your voice :p
pumpkin is the cutestttt and i laughed when “that was the “jei” voice” appeared ahah

Janai, it is so stunning to see yourself on a tape (when you don’t really realize it) especially if you’re at a social event or hanging with friends. It’s really an eye opener to your/our behavior. When I was first filmed I noticed a few things about myself that I didn’t like at all, and made sure to change them right away.

Diana, I think Ben (above comment) made a really good point when he said just saying what you would be writing normally makes it more personal to begin with, but if I’m going to be sharing more feelings- friends only is the way to go.

Loma, thank you, thank you. =)

I think that was lovely, I’m sooooooooooo too afraid to do anything like it! I mean, I am usually an outgoing person but i get all self conscious when i’m sitting in a room by myself. That sounds weird doesn’t it.

(p.s you looked really beautiful and pumpkin is adorable!!!)

And- I WILL TRY MY HARDEST TO FLOOD YOU WITH VLOGS. <3<3<3<3

cK spoke on December 6th, 2007 11:47 am with the words:

Holy crow. That video was outstanding, and really quite a lovely thing to watch today. I think all of us writing on the web wrestle with the privacy issue, which is really quite funny since we’re writing in what is almost always a public forum! It’s sort of like buying a house next to an airport and then complaining about plane traffic noise.

But it’s a very real tension. It’s liberating to have the public venue, but confining to feel that certain people you’re not sure you want reading it might find it.

For my own self, I found I wrote fewer letters once I started blogging. I think I felt I put so much out there that I stopped speaking more personally to people quite close to me. At the same time, I realized that I was in many respects more open through blogging than I had been in personal friendships and such.

What an odd odd scene it all is.

You pretty much rock, Sara. Thanks for sharing what you do share and please never feel a need to apologize to anyone for what you don’t share, or what you reserve for a smaller group.

Happy days,
-cK

That’s it! Exactly, I find myself saying, “I didn’t tell you this…? Strange… Oh, I guess I just put it on my website.” And I am completely on the boat about being more open and honest on here than I usually am in person. I wonder why that is?

And thank you so much for this comment. It made my rough week totally better.
