Well thank you! A cat named beef and three boys? In a two bedroom!? That's sounds scary. Yet, for me, somewhat comforting. =}

Jake, I agree, there's something inspiring about having your thoughts in a tangible form.

Tam- Your journal sounds amazing. I've found I often have that problem too. I'm not sure I can finish a journal, it usually spans for quite a while because I'll write- and then stop for about four months, and then pick it up again.

Hmm, I start a lot of journals but rarely finish them. I usually get about half way and then put it away and start a new one as a new phase of life starts for me. I guess I always feel the need to start fresh.
The one I have now is my favorite. It's beautiful with hand-made paper and a hand painted cover. I put everything in mine, I write a lot of abstract thoughts.

My mother used to make me write a diary to make me practise my handwriting and spelling. I hated it lol! but i'm sure i finished atleast a couple of them before i lost them!

However when teenage angst took hold, i wrote pages and pages of love and lust and moaning and lots of creepy obsessiveness, i threw away lots of the obsessive stuff, but i've kept loads of poems and got them in a big sketch book, that has my name stapled to it. And now i've got various little notebooks which i fill with notes and scribbles. and music.

I haven't named them, infact i never titled my poems for a couple of years! It kinda forces them to speak for themselves. I like it messy too, I haven't got anything bound, yet atleast.

I think it's satisfying to have something solid so you can sometimes touch your thoughts, I often scan things into lj, or sometimes i print off stuff that i write and put it amoungst my other thoughts.

I find it refreshing to know that there are others that struggle with written journals. I find it's faster and easier to type than it is to write, and I can change my layout to fit my mood, etc. Pretty much everything that's written down is what I've transcribed from what I write online. I don't know why I put so much time into writing it all down after I've just typed it up here...

:)

Thanks for sharing you two.

I have problems with written journals. I start using them, and then I get annoyed with what I have written and buy a new one. So I own journals with a few entries in the front and that is all. LJ works better for me.

Oh, I forgot a question...yes, three are blank. One is a replica of Nathaniel. The other three were bought at the same time. Journals can be so pretty. :x

Omg! That's it! That's the journal!! Or, one of them.

Ahem. I had two journals. One I was given at age 6 that I wrote in maybe once a year. Then I was given a spiral notebook which I started at age 16. I had seen a therapist to "test her out" and didn't end up sticking with her, but I did take her advice of writing every day. So on that 16th birthday I started writing and haven't stopped.

They didn't have names, however. Due to my younger sister's prying (she would find my secret boxes and steal my writing pieces, claiming them as her own for school) I switched to Diaryland. Then peer pressure put me in LiveJournal which is where you now know me. ;D The two books are stored in a box in my parents' room, but I transferred almost all Diaryland entries to LJ.
